Ankit Agarwal ICF International |
In India, Demand Response has always been a concept talked about in governmental policies as part of Demand Side Management. Though a few pilot programs were implemented, the scale was largely restricted to 5 MW or less. With an integrated grid, strict central electricity regulatory commission guidelines and day-by-day increasing renewable energy output, demand response has become an inevitable tool to manage grid. Realizing this, ICF, India teamed with support of Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation did a 20-MW pilot program and is planning to get a go ahead for a 200-MW or above large-scale program. Learn about the pilot experiences and the challenges faced by ICF in launching first of its kind program in India. Ankit Agarwal has been working in energy sector for the past 6 years. Prior to joining ICF, India he was working in building energy efficiency and is a LEED Accredited Professional. He is a graduate from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. |
