Join this 1-hour discussion with members of the PLMA Women in Demand Management and Thermostat Interest Groups to learn about new programs utilities are designing that integrate Energy Efficiency and Demand Response. Integrated Demand Side Management (IDSM) has been a buzz word in the industry for the last decade, but now programs and portfolios are executing to the vision. This webinar will include two utility perspectives focusing on the criteria program administrators considered when developing integrated program design, the value and challenges associated with program implementation, and ultimately how they measured or will measure success. We will also discuss innovative Distributed Energy Resource program designs recently proposed within IDSM including managed electric vehicle charging, grid interactive water heating, and reverse demand response.

Jon Hilowitz

Jon Hilowitz is the Program Administrator for Orange and Rockland’s demand response programs, both residential and commercial. Prior to working in demand response, Jon ran O&R’s commercial and industrial energy efficiency program, helping large customers optimize their energy usage. Before joining O&R, Jon headed the low-income energy efficiency program for the Orange County Rural Development Advisory Corporation, assisting low income residents improve the quality of their lives and the comfort of their homes.

Tom Hines
Arizona Public Service / Tierra Resource Consultants
Tom Hines

Tom Hines is a residential energy efficiency expert with more than 20 years of experience in program design, implementation and evaluation. Since 1997, Tom has worked as a consultant for APS in designing, developing and managing the company's portfolio of residential energy efficiency programs, including: new homes, existing homes HVAC, home performance, consumer products lighting, pools, multi-family, behavioral conservation, and energy efficiency financing programs. Most recently, he has been instrumental in working to transition the APS DSM portfolio to focus on emerging Distributed Energy Resources.

Olivia Patterson
Opinion Dynamics and PLMA Thermostat Interest Group Co-Chair
Olivia Patterson

Olivia brings valuable experience in evaluation, tackling programs that require alternative or innovative approaches to answer key research questions. For Opinion Dynamics, she has worked on a variety of projects to better understand customer adoption and behavioral changes in both commercial and residential applications, and the appropriate methodologies available for their assessment. Before joining Opinion Dynamics, Olivia conducted research at various think tanks including the RAND Corporation, the Thailand Development Research Institute, and the Inter-American Development Bank.

Erika Diamond
EnergyHub and PLMA Women in Demand Management Co-Chair
Erika Diamond

Erika is the VP and GM of Energy Markets at EnergyHub, where she manages the company’s demand response aggregation business. With more than 15 years of experience in the energy space, Erika is EnergyHub’s resident expert on wholesale energy markets, customer marketing/engagement, and regulatory affairs. Before joining EnergyHub, she was the SVP of Corporate Development and Strategy at Recyclebank, where she developed corporate and industry partnerships and drove development and maintenance of Recyclebank's core products.

Who Should Attend. Utility and regulatory staff as well as other energy industry trade allies and organizations seeking thought leadership and insight on innovative demand response methods to meet peak energy load needs, mitigate price, and manage variable generation.

After a brief introduction and two utility case study presentations, there will be a facilitated discussion. You're welcome to use a speaker phone or VOIP so an unlimited number of people may participate. After the Discussion, you will receive a recording web link.
