Aquanta Partners with ICF on Innovative Home Energy Optimization Programs for Two Leading California Utilities

Aquanta ICF

Aquanta Inc. is proud to have their products featured in the new Home Energy Optimization Program. This program, which is administered by ICF, brings Aquanta’s market-leading smart water heater controller to Pacific Gas and Electric’s residential customers as a key piece of a customized package of energy-management technologies. This package of technologies is provided to homeowners at a significant discount, along with additional energy-saving products and services, to reduce energy consumption throughout their homes.

Aquanta will also be a featured intelligent efficiency product in Southern California Gas’ (SCG) impending Home Energy Automation Resource Technology (HEARTh) Program, also administered by ICF. This program is expected to formally launch and be available to SCG customers this coming spring.

Navigant Publishes Residential DR Report

Navigant Publishes 'Market Data: Demand Response for C&I'

This Navigant Research report examines the global RDR market in five major geographic regions: North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and the Middle East & Africa. The study provides an analysis of market issues, including the drivers and barriers associated with global RDR development. Global market forecasts for capacity, sites, spending, and revenue for CIDR, segmented by region, extend through 2028. The report also explores global RDR trends to highlight varying regional activity and markets.

Electric residential demand response (RDR) programs have been in place in North America for several decades but have only started to expand globally since 2013. RDR typically follows proven success of commercial and industrial demand response (CIDR) programs. Between 2019 and 2028, demonstrated CIDR reliability worldwide, combined with new use cases for electric RDR and new grid-connected technologies will increase program penetration in newer markets and drive deeper savings where markets are maturing.

While the residential sector will see increased demand response (DR) participation over the coming decade, the factors driving this growth will vary regionally. In more mature markets, new distributed energy resources (DER) technologies and advanced data analytics will drive deeper savings across RDR programs. Further, RDR programs may increasingly be called upon to regularly shift load away from peak hours rather than only curtail load during periods of grid instability. Regions without RDR in 2019 are expected to launch their first programs in the coming decade. They may approach RDR uniquely given different electricity grid and residential customer needs.

Navigant Publishes Global DER Deployment Database

Navigant Publishes 'Market Data: Demand Response for C&I'

This Navigant Research report examines the proliferation of distributed energy resources (DER) which will be among the most disruptive trends to the traditional energy industry over the next decade. Most energy companies and utilities are already wrestling with revenue erosion due to energy efficiency, demand-side optimization, and solar PV. As deployments of distributed generation and energy storage, plug-in EVs (PEVs), and microgrids gain further traction, the impact on incumbent revenue will become more pronounced.

The global electric power industry is facing transformation from centralized generation toward a more decentralized grid with two-way energy flows, known as the Energy Cloud. The Energy Cloud consists of a mix of DER technology and smart grid solutions poised to disrupt traditional utility models for end consumers. According to Navigant Research estimates, new global DER capacity deployments—including distributed generation, DER, PEV charging load, demand response, and energy efficiency—are outpacing the deployment of new centralized generation capacity.
