Copper Labs Announces Essie Snell as the Head of Product Marketing

Copper Labs is excited to announce Essie Snell as the Head of Product Marketing. In this role, he helps identify opportunities for electric, gas, and water utilities to leverage real-time meter data to support a data-driven transition to a low-carbon economy, increase resilience in the face of a changing climate, improve equity, manage demand, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Prior to joining supported utility leaders on key topics relating to decarbonization and innovative technologies. At E Source, he published more than 300 papers and articles on the strategic implications of emerging energy technologies and trends and led their utility-focused smart home initiatives (including developing partnerships with both Google and Amazon). Then, at ICF, he worked closely with major natural gas and dual-fuel utilities to support their climate planning, reporting, and innovation roadmapping efforts, and co-authored the American Gas Association’s pioneering 2022 "Net-Zero Emissions Opportunities for Gas Utilities" report in partnership with dozens of leading gas utilities from across the US. Essie holds a BS in Engineering Physics from the University of Colorado Boulder.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to decarbonization business development strategy and lead its execution
- Expand business opportunities by identifying target clients and developing relationships with potential clients and partners
- Develop the company’s decarbonization industry engagement strategy, and demonstrate industry thought leadership by attending and presenting at industry events as well as contributing to editorial content
- Monitor decarbonization trends to identify business opportunities and inform company strategy
- Lead decarbonization proposal strategy and execution, including championing proposals for new project opportunities
- Provide decarbonization subject matter expertise related to policy, utility program design and implementation, and analysis (e.g., modeling, cost-benefit frameworks)
- Collaborate with various internal teams to deliver value to existing clients
- Mentor staff and scale internal staff capabilities

Responsibilities
As a Principal Consultant, you are the cornerstone of a project team, connecting our clients with the internal expertise needed to answer their key questions. In this role, you will be primarily focused on managing the successful execution of technical projects and tasks involving advanced analytical and data science techniques, as well as large volumes of data. You will also be responsible for project and staff management. This includes leading the design and execution of analytic efforts, translating complex analyses into concepts understandable to clients, supervising consultants, and working closely with our clients to make sure we’re being responsive to their needs.
As a Principal Consultant, you will be responsible for the following on a day-to-day basis:
- Developing research and evaluation plans that adhere to industry best practices, as well as leverage recent innovations in the field of statistics, data science, data visualization, and data management
- Overseeing, and contributing to the execution of research plans for complex quantitative analyses, ensuring that objectives are achieved, results are accurate, and recommendations are actionable
- Conducting quality control of work products including data frames and analytic outputs
- Effectively managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets to meet client needs and contract specifications
- Designing research strategies and methods in collaboration with senior statistical experts and other functional teams (e.g., data management, market insights and engineering)
- Effectively communicating analytics and modeling results and turning data models into actionable insights
- Authoring memos, reports and presentations for clients and other external audiences
- Developing and presenting executive level results and recommendations
- Providing training and mentorship to less experienced consulting staff
- Writing proposals to win new projects
