PLMA Call for Awards Nominations:  PLMA has launched our 18th Call for Awards nominations which will culminate in the recognition of outstanding load management programs, initiatives, and achievements from calendar year 2020. Annual Report.  With guidance from Jenny Roehm and Michael Ohlsen of PLMA's Thought Leadership group, PLMA has published its 2020 Annual Report, which commends the dynamic and highly engaged nature of PLMA's member practitioners despite the challenges of 2020.  

Thought Leadership Publication.  Also with the assistance of the Thought Leadership group, PLMA has published an excerpt from its upcoming 2020 Thought Leadership Compendium titled "Department of Energy’s Future Connected Communities: Validating Buildings as a Grid Resource." It highlights the U.S. Department of Energy's FOA 0002206 (deadline March 2021) and is intended as an additional resource for organizations participating in this upcoming funding opportunity. 

43rd Conference.  50 presentation abstracts have been submitted and are now being scored by approximately 40 member-volunteers. The 43rd PLMA Conference agenda will be announced in early February. 

Conference Planning Group.  Meridith Nierenberg of West Monroe Partners will join Bruce Brazis of Arizona Public Service as a co-chair of the Conference Planning Group.

Connected Devices Interest Group
. Cindy Berry of Austin Energy will join Kari Bindley of ecobee and J.T. Thompson of Enbala as a co-chair of the Connected Devices Interest Group.

42nd Conference.  It's still not too late to "sign-up" and get access to the 42nd PLMA Conference recordings. You can use your member passes or pay the $395 member fee to get access to the 18 recorded presentations, including the Live Q&A sessions.

Resource Directory Updates.  Most recent addition is an excerpt from PLMA’s 2020 Thought Leadership Compendium titled "U.S. Department of Energy’s Future Connected Communities: Validating Buildings as a Grid Resource,"  plus a webcast/podcast recording of "Perspectives on FERC Order 2222." 43rd Conference, May 2021.  Call for presenters is now open at www.peakload.org/43rd-conference-call-for-presenters, deadline of Jan. 11. We assume PLMA will definitely provide online conference content, regardless of the potential for an in-person event.

42nd Conference.  Over 300 people registered for the conference and associated events. On-Demand Session co-chairs and presenters conducted a live Q&A opportunity on Nov. 19. It is not too late to "sign-up" and get access to the conference recordings if you didn't attend the conference. Members may use member passes if available and all others may still register to get access to the 18 recorded presentations--including the Live Q&A sessions--at www.peakload.org/42nd-plma-conference. If you previously registered for the conference you may access the presentation recordings using the original link you used to attend the conference.

New Group Co-Chair.  Peter Bergeron of CPower Energy Management has been approved to be Co-Chair of the Awards Program Planning Group, joining Michael Smith of National Grid and Brett Feldman of Guidehouse. Peter is the Senior Director and GM of Utility Program for CPower. He recently served PLMA as Co-Chair of the Conference Planning Group for the 42nd Conference. 

Training.  Over 25 registered for the "DR to DER Evolution" course that was presented via GotoWebinar on Oct. 28/29.  

Publication. 17th Awards Compendium went live to the public last week! It also includes a companion piece, an executive summary by the Thought Leadership co-chairs. This summary will serve as a teaser for media and potential new members. www.peakload.org/news.

Interest Groups News. 

  • Women in Demand Management has completed its Mentoring Pilot Handbook, and has paired six mentor/mentee partnerships from those who volunteered. They are now underway with the PLMA Mentoring Pilot Program!   
  • Substantial interest has also been expressed in creating a Retail Pricing Interest Group. Organizational meetings for that potential group will be set up in coming weeks.  
  • PLMA is also evaluating the demand for creating a new Interest Group that focuses on applications related to electric transportation. Contact Rich Philip at [email protected] if you're interested in either joining or leading this Electric Transportation/Mobility Interest Group.
