PLMA Grows to 159 Member Organizations

Voice of Load Management Practitioners Welcomes Over 340 Energy Industry Attendees to 39th Conference in Minneapolis

Minneapolis, Minn. – May 14, 2019 – PLMA, the voice of load management practitioners in the energy utility industry, welcomed its 159th member organization at its Spring Board meeting yesterday, up from 42 members seven years ago. The board meeting was held in conjunction with the 39th PLMA Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, co-hosted by Xcel Energy, Great River Energy, and Minnesota Power, which is being attended by over 340 representatives from energy utility and industry allies.

At the Conference, PLMA announced 3 new publications:

  • 2018 PLMA Annual Activity Report to Members that details key achievements of PLMA in calendar year 2018.
  • PLMA Thought Leadership 2018 Compendium that includes transcripts from eight selected webcasts and conference sessions produced by PLMA in 2018.
  • Future of Distributed Energy Resources Compendium that showcases eight industry initiatives where leading utilities are partnering with their customers and allies to demonstrate the path to a more integrated approach to distributed energy resources.

The 16th PLMA Awards recognize industry leaders who created, during calendar year 2018, innovative ideas, methods, programs and technologies that manage end use loads to meet peak load needs and support successful grid integration of distributed energy resources. Over the past 15 years, PLMA has presented over 74 awards to recipients who have included utilities, product/service providers, end-users, and individuals responsible for load managment efforts targeted to the residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural customer markets.

40th PLMA Conference

The 40th PLMA Conference will be November 4-6, 2019 in St. Petersburg, Florida. An industry-wide call for presenters is already underway. PLMA’s national conferences presented in spring and fall provide a forum for practitioners from energy utilities, solution providers and trade allies to share dynamic load management expertise, including demand response and distributed energy resources. For two decades, PLMA conferences, educational programs and networking opportunities have brought member organizations together to develop, implement and share proven practices in a peer-to-peer network – offering load management leadership for the energy industry.
