Posted May 4, 2023

E Source is looking for a director of grid technologies to join our team. We expect this person to act as an industry-facing expert on how utilities can solve problems related to grid-interactivity, load management, and emerging customer-side technologies. We’d like you to jump in on day one to solve real-world problems for our utility clients through written reports and live presentations, lead technology-focused client-facing projects, and support junior researchers. If you have deep knowledge of the utility industry; a passion for demand response and load management; technical expertise on new or existing efficiency and renewable energy technologies; and excellent communication skills, we’d love to talk to you!

E Source is a solutions-based research and advisory, consulting, and data science firm that’s been a change agent in the utility industry for over 35 years.

What you’ll do

  • Serve as our in-house expert on emerging electric and gas end-use technologies, demand response, load management, and incorporating new technologies into utility programs
  • Mentor and train junior researchers on the utility market needs, how utilities are changing, and new and emerging end-use technologies to address these needs
  • Give strategic input to our research agenda and coach research deliverables
  • Write and present clear and concise responses to research and advisory requests from utility members about energy technologies, trends, and programs
  • Gather research from primary and secondary sources (including phone interviews, internet searches, and in-depth reading), critically analyze the information, and write up key findings, best practices, and actionable recommendations in a way that’s easy for audiences of varying technical skills to understand
  • Conduct technical analysis, analyze data, and offer expert recommendations to inform utility business decisions
  • Create clear, concise, data-driven, and action-oriented content for topically focused reports, articles, technical briefs, webinars, and in-person events
  • Engage with utility members through in-person and virtual meetings and customized presentations on various technology topics
  • Lead or support end-use technology consulting projects, especially those that help utilities move technologies through product development into customer offerings; you should be comfortable working closely with our sales team to find, respond to, and manage new consulting opportunities
  • Represent E Source as a subject-matter expert at industry conferences and events
