To Whom it May Concern:

Austin Energy is proud to announce a call for vendors to participate in our Power PartnerSM Thermostat Program. The program will enroll residential and commercial customers for a voluntary summer demand response program utilizing programmable, communicating thermostats (PCTs). Austin Energy will enlist additional vendors to the existing program which currently represents a variety of thermostat retail markets.

This program departs from the single "top-down" thermostat demand response implementation structure that Austin Energy has taken in the past and utilizes a "bottom-up" approach, in recognition that the electric utility industry is changing. In the past, residential customers had only one thermostat option that we installed and maintained in our customers’ homes. This program adds to our demand response offerings by providing multiple thermostat options and additional flexibility. This new approach is diverse enough to include additional devices like electric car chargers or smart appliances in the future and is designed to integrate well with our other rebate offerings.

We have attached several documents that provide more information about the thermostat program. We hope that after you have had a chance to review the literature you will be interested in learning more about how to participate. Please RSVP to [email protected] by August 12th for an informational call on August 14th, 12 pm - 1 pm (CDT). We look forward to speaking with you all then.

Thank you,
