B. Interest Groups: Distributed Energy Resources Integration

About Distributed Energy Resources Integration

Distributed Energy Resources Integration

This PLMA Interest Group addresses key economic, engineering, and customer program design aspects of Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Integration, including:

  • Valuation of load management resources in “firming” non-dispatchable renewable resources
  • Program design and re-design issues for adapting DR programs from peak-shaving to DER integration programs
  • Technology needs assessments for DER applications

This new DER Interest Group will produce DR Dialogues and pre-conference workshops, attracting papers and presentations from utilities, trade allies, and consultants actively involved in the DER issues described above. The co-chairs are Rich Barone, Hawiian Electric Company and John Powers, Extensible Energy. We will actively solicit papers from current and prospective new PLMA members, as we believe this topic will open up new interest from multiple utilities with high or increasing renewables penetration as well as from organizations moving into DR from solar and wind markets.
