This Interest Group discussion will begin with a brief exploration by Rich Barone of Hawaiian Electric of the syntax currently in use regarding Distributed Energy Resources. For example, have you noticed that Distributed Energy Resources is most often used as an umbrella term that subsumes Demand Response? Whereas DR may be more accurately seen as an action taken on DERs rather than a resource itself? The group co-chairs will include time for open discussion of topics and presenters for the next in-person group meeting set for this November in Cambridge, Mass.

The conversation will include a brief solar-plus-storage case study recently featured in a Utility Dive article about a Rocky Mountain Institute study titled "Is grid defection still a threat to the utility business model?" (see article at CLICK HERE)
